Each of us yearns to be involved with someone, something, outside of ourselves. Philanthropy provides that linchpin to our humanity. We recently announced an exciting matching challenge for security. Inspired by both our Safe SRQ Guardians initiative and the Live Secure Match, a local family stepped forward to create a 1-to-1 matching challenge for all gifts to the endowment for security. The Haspel family is not only practicing the power of giving together, but also motivating our multigenerational community to come forward during this critical time.

Endowments are a remarkable opportunity, as they guarantee sustainability for the Federation’s security efforts forever. An endowment gift can be made by one donor family or by an individual, but with a matching challenge, it becomes our collective motivation and inspiration to look towards the future.  

Looking back on the month of April, it is remarkable to reflect on how our community represented kehillah.  We welcomed back a favorite event in person, Women’s Day, for the first time since 2019, celebrating how women make a philanthropic impact every day. We also embarked on The Giving Challenge presented by The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, where our region supports our more than 700 strong nonprofits. There is a powerful message in giving together: you make a personal commitment to becoming part of a collective of donors focused on the best possible outcome for an organization.
