Special Campus Update from Shep Englander, CEO

While it may be summer here, we at the Federation have been at work finalizing designs, securing critical financing, and starting construction for The Larry & Mary Greenspon Family Campus for Jewish Life. In 18 months' time, we will be welcoming you to explore our enhanced facilities and garden spaces to enjoy events, programs, and much more.

As we learned from the Brandeis Jewish Community Study in 2019, we have more than 35,000 people living in Jewish households in Sarasota-Manatee (a number that has likely grown since 2019), but we do not have a dedicated space to convene, connect and celebrate our culture and heritage. We designed the campus to address these unique needs.

The campus will provide:

  • A hub for community building: a warm place to nurture friendships and engage volunteers and community leaders;
  • An oasis of learning and respectful exchange where all are safe not only physically but also emotionally and culturally, because diverse viewpoints are welcome;
  • An incubator for arts and ideas, building on our Jewish community’s vast contributions to the region’s arts and intellectual treasures; and
  • Premiere spaces to celebrate life events, meeting the demand for life-cycle and event venues. This commitment will be showcased in the new Morganroth Event Center.

In the months ahead, I will be in touch with you to share important updates on our progress as well as opportunities for you to get involved. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

I look forward to sharing more campus updates with you as we work together to transform Jewish cultural life in Sarasota-Manatee.
